Upon completion of the teaching unit, students will be able to: 

• Draw and read a flow diagram,
• Recognize the different sensors, valves, and process equipment on Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PID),
• Explain the principle of a heat exchanger,
• Describe the operating conditions of thermal equipment,
• Apply sizing rules for pumps, compressors, electrolyzers, tank design,
• Describe the different phase of an engineering project,
• Evaluate the interest to reuse existing equipment in a new process.
