LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the teaching unit, students will be able to: 

  • State the current and future applications of H2,
  • Report the upcoming shifts and transformations for the automotive, transport and industry sector,
  • Understand the significance of hydrogen as a sustainable fuel for the maritime industry, for railway and aviation,
  • Describe a fuel cell system, battery technology used in electric / hybrid vehicles,
  • Examine the limitations and evolution of battery performance,
  • Argue the advantages and disadvantages of hydrogen combustion,
  • Analyze the competitiveness of hydrogen solution compared to other energy sources,
  • Describe the main usages of H2 in industry as feedstock for petrochemicals, iron & steel and fertilizers industries,
  • Write an offer describing the technical and financial relevance of hydrogen for a given application (can be in the energy sector, in the mobility sector or more general in the industry) and justify your choice.
