LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • to analyze from outcrop observation both structural and stratigraphic elements of the history of a sedimentary basin at basin scale;
  • to describe the main steps of a petroleum exploration study and synthetize the most important results;
  • to recognize the main geological elements at reservoir scales;
  • to identify and describe specific settings in various depositional environments, using outcrops, samples and thin sections;
  • to understand the workflow of seismic interpretation and to recognize the main features on seismic data (horizons and faults);
  • to describe the workflow of seismic acquisition (land and marine) and processing until the migration step;
  • to know the main techniques applied in reservoir geophysics;
  • to understand the potential of 4D seismic for reservoir studies.
