LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • to understand the principles of geology and to be able to identify the main types of rocks;
  • to read geological maps and understand present geomorphology and structural features;
  • to describe depositional settings, both in clastic and carbonate environments, using outcrops, rock samples (cores) and thin sections;
  • to describe the main elements of a petroleum system and to identify them in the field;
  • to understand geochemical principles and techniques applied for petroleum system definition and analysis at basin scale;
