Learning Objectives
The aim of this teaching unit is to describe and manipulate all the data necessary for reservoir characterisation and geological modelling. This course reviews the various geological, geophysical and production data (presented in detail in the previous modules) to build a consistent static model of a reservoir, and to understand the impact of the interpretations on the flow simulation and on the hydrocarbon volumetric evaluation. At the end of this teaching unit, the student is able to:
- make a critical analysis of data and integrate them into the various stages of the reservoir characterization process,
- implement an integrated methodology of reservoir characterization, including data uncertainty analysis and modelling up to the volumetric evaluation of oil and gas in place,
- know the main tools of geostatistics (interpolation and simulation techniques),
- build a 3D geological model using Petrel™ software on a real case study,
- make the connection between the geological model and the dynamic model.
